Special education aims to provide accommodated education for disabled students such as learning disabilities, learning difficulties (such as dyslexia and ADHD), communication disorders, emotional and behavioural disorders, physical disabilities (such as osteogenesis imperfecta, cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy, spina bifida, and Friedreich's ataxia), developmental disabilities (such as autistic spectrum disorder and intellectual disabilities) and other disabilities. Disabled students are likely to benefit from additional educational services such as different approaches to teaching, the use of technology, a specifically adapted teaching area, a resource room, or a separate classroom.
This program aims to develop special educators for students with hearing impairment. After undergoing B.Ed Special Education (Hearing Impairment) course, a special educator will acquire knowledge and skills about:
Special education in hearing impairment deals with the education of those students for whom the teaching procedures are to be individually planned and monitored systematically. After doing a B.Ed. course in special education (hearing impairment), an educator is able to provide the hearing impaired students with a higher level of self-sufficiency in their learning and day to day living. The teachings are imparted through classroom instructions, practical experience and by conducting research. The focus of the courses is more on learning by experience and research. Proper education is very necessary for the hearing-impaired students.

Eligibility Criteria
Candidates with at least 50% marks either in the Bachelor’s Degree and / or in the Master degree in Sciences/ Social Sciences/ Humanities/ Bachelor’s in Engineering or Technology with Specialization in Science and Mathematics with 55% marks or any other qualification equivalent thereto, are eligible for admission to the programme (as per RCI Norms)
The B.Ed. Special Education (Visual Impairment) aims to develop Special Education Teachers/Educators for children with visual impairment for various settings (including Inclusive, Special, Open School and Home Based Education). The B.Ed. (S.E.-V.I.) programme will prepare human resources to enable them to acquire knowledge and develop competencies and skills to impart education and training effectively to children with visual impairment as well as all other children and this being teachers for all children. After completing the B.Ed. (S.E.-V.I.) programme the student teachers will:
Three years B.Ed. – M.Ed. Integrated programme has been developed to prepare the professional teacher committed to serve in the field of disability rehabilitation (intellectual disability). The programme combines theory and practical along with internship to inculcate the philosophy of inclusive education. The component of research has been incorporated to enable the Teacher trainer to innovate the proper methodology of developing the latent potential of any child in any environment. This will encourage professional teachers further to upgrade their knowledge and skill. Advance knowledge in the intricacies of pedagogical theory shall facilitate the professional teacher in developing the better way of instructions in the classroom. It will provide a firm initial foundation essential to equip any professional teacher with the knowledge, competences, skills, attitudes, awareness and confidence required to teach children in general and special education classrooms and to prepare professionals with integrated ability for curriculum and instructional planning, educational management, research and human resource development.

The Advanced Diploma has been designed to bridge the gap of availability of trained professionals for undertaking counseling and guidance of children and families in different settings. It has been planned with a Developmental, Ecological and Rights Perspective to enable the learner to function effectively as a mental health professional with an updated understanding of theoretical constructs, and the requisite skills. The inherent emphasis of the programme is on 'Development of Self' and 'Acquisition of Skills' through experiential and action learning.
Advanced Diploma in Child Guidance and Counselling (ADCGC) is a 1-year diploma course through which the candidates enhance their practical knowledge and skills. The course provides practical knowledge and exposure to all the candidates which helps them to learn more about counseling and handling patients. It also provides them with the RCI License which means after the completion of the course the candidates will become RCI Recognized Professionals.
